Treetops reaching to the Cloud
TreeMetrics Ltd is an Irish company providing pioneering Cloud based services to the international forestry sector. The company was founded in 2005 by Mr Enda Keane and Mr. Garret Mullooly through support from Enterprise Ireland and private investors. It follows the founders’ belief that there had to be a better way for measuring and managing this vital global resource. Its technology firstly analyses 3D laser scan data and creates sample 3D stems from the forest. The presentation will outline how this information is fed into its web platform called “The Forest Warehouse”. Here forest owners and timber buyers can do better business together by selecting the “right forest for the right end use”. This information basically allows forest owners supply more wood from cutting less trees. The company’s vision is to place TreeMetrics and Ireland at the core of becoming the data warehouse for forestry and forestry knowledge. The company has a great core team of people and it is currently hiring some additional staff to realise this vision. It has formed strong links with IBM through the Smart Planet initiative and vies to be the “Google” for the forest industry.
Garret Mullooly is both co-founder and COO of TreeMetrics Ltd based in Cork. He holds a B. Agricultural Science forestry degree from UCD and previously worked as a forest manager with Woodland Managers Ltd. He has over 17yrs experience in the forestry sector. The company has received International acclaim and is currently providing its services to customers here in Ireland and as far away as Australia.
